The History of This PA Borough

This community was originally settled by Welsh immigrants in the 17th century. These immigrants bought the land from William Penn.

One of the earliest landmarks of the community was the East Whiteland Baptist Church. In fact, the church served as a focal point for the community for many decades.

Although the community was known for a long time as the West Chester Intersection, the towns name was changed to Malvern in 1873 when the Pennsylvania Railroad straightened its tracks through the village.

The community continued to grow over the years, officially being incorporated on August 13, 1889.
